Kent Place Residence, Summit, New Jersey
The transformation of this two-acre property in an historic neighborhood brought together old and new, rustic and contemporary, passive and active, native and exotic, and, ultimately, house and home. This young family returned to their hometown after life in the Big Apple. They sought a retreat to escape the hectic day to day while building a lifetime of memories. The result was a blending of the outdoors and indoors with native stone and plant materials that created a series of outdoor rooms. The rooms included a rooftop kitchen terrace, a family terrace with fireplace, a party terrace, a great lawn for play, a refurbished tennis court and a new pool area complete with a pool house and an indoor basketball court.
